Can’t say
enough nice things about the Johnny A Custom shop. From looks to
feel to vibe – it’s an “A” all the way. What quibbles I
might have are minor and superficial. Strung with 10’s from the
factory? Why? Felt toyish. Changed to 11’s – big,
big improvement – these babies were meant fly on 11’s. Ask
Johnny.
In the full front picture I provided, you can see my baby with my other
baby – a Savage Rohr 15. Naturally, if you want the master’s
voice, you’re out there scrounging for Marshall 30th Anniversary models.
But let me tell you, the Savage is a superb combo with the Johnny A –
you can get that Marshall tone and more. The Savage’s versatility
compliments the Johnny A model’s versatility. Check ‘em out:

Rather than the back of the headstock, you’ll find a photo of Gibson
certificate of authenticity. Look close, you’ll notice the
maestro’s signature. The good Mr. A came through the Twin Cities
not long ago and was kind enough to autograph it for me.
Gibson says “A modern classic.” After a couple of months with
mine, I’m inclined to believe.
